We have been dying to record with Joelle Lugassy, a registered holistic psychotherapist, working mom, and fashionista to say the least. She truly does it all and looks amazing while doing it. This week we dive into what psychotherapy is all about, Joelle’s journey to date, and she gives some valuable tips about navigating all the highs and lows we face.
Joelle’s Journey:
Beginning undergrad at McGill University Joelle studied psychology with the end goal of teaching in mind. Her career journey pivoted as she began working on herself, with own therapist, Joelle discovered her passion was in holistic psychotherapy. Finding a therapist is like dating:
If you’re on the hunt for a therapist, the consultation call is an essential to discovering the connection between you and your future therapist. Joelle says, that for the relationship to flow smoothly there needs to be a certain level of transparency, authenticity, and trust.
Joelle’s tips and advice, overcoming nerves and Imposter Syndrome:
Radical Acceptance. I’m going to do this, this is temporary, and really what’s the worst that can happen!
Affirmations! I am capable, I am worthy of the career I desire, I am beautiful. Keep them short and sweet :)

Joelle’s 2 biggest pieces of advice to her 20-year-old self:
1. The challenges we face are presented to us for a reason, stop viewing these in a victim mindset and look at these challenges with a reflective lens.
2. Happiness and gratitude is a practice, be more mindful of the beautiful things life has to offer, be present to tap into the most beautiful moments of life.
