Bloating & Anxiety? Your Gut Might Be Begging For A Reset
Abby and I are diving into our gut health journey this week. We want to share with you how we have overcome chronic gut health issues, navigating drinking & its effects on our physical and mental states and a run down on our break from coffee.
We are always navigating finding balance between drinking and feeling our best. A few things we’ve started doing when drinking to care for the body & mind:
Drink slower
Swap out your tipsy late-night snack from fast food to something homemade… evening if it’s simply cooking your own fries instead of ordering.
Set realistic expectations for yourself, restriction will not serve you. For example, enjoying a glass of wine will not kill you but maybe ask yourself if you need another OR swap your next
glass for something non-alcoholic.
Surround yourself with people who support what’s best for you, you shouldn’t feel pressured to drink when you don’t want to
Healing the Gut comes with a mind & boy connection:
Replace social media with reading! I have finally replaced my phone with reading in the morning to cut back on scrolling and looking to better myself. The first week was actually hard to remember every morning to reach for my book instead of my phone, but I must admit I am obsessed with this new routine. I really noticed I go on my phone less throughout the entire day and reduced anxiety long term.
Meditating with help calm your nervous system, a driver of your guts state. Melissa Wood Health meditations, specifically the walking mediation to habit stack! Abby is also a lover of Open meditation.
And for those who know us, know how much we love our hot & cold therapy. Otherships or a MHW meditation in the sauna and cold shower has so many benefits for reflection, detoxing and empowerment.
Abby and I a two week break coffee and here is how it went:
Maybe TMI but Abby and I sometimes use coffee because we love the taste but also because it does temporarily help us use the washroom. However, when your gut is begging you for help, the coffee will not serve you long term. Abby and I notice our stomach feeling better, reduced anxiety and less inflammation after our two-week break.
Our eating habits to heal our guts:
Our love for animal based continues. This way of eating has worked so well so Abby and I (but do what makes you feel best). We are aways satisfied after meals, experience less bloating and love fueling the body with whole foods. You know we love to share our animal-based meals… our current favourite has been steak & carrots and for dessert, a fruit and dates with butter.
Ripe bone broth has changed the game with our gut health, healing the lining of our stomachs. As soon as I get home, this will be my first purchase and I will be going on a 21-day bone broth reset.
